It is funny though. I remember looking at advertisements just a week ago and thinking, word for word, the exact same thing!
 
Wetsuits have an inherently sleek sci fi look. One comedian pointed out, "How come the sci-fi clothes in the future never have pockets. Where do those people carry their sh*t?"

If your wetsuit looks too Star Trek, just glue pockets on it.

Just add a comm and you've got a medical/science Starfleet uniform from Voyager/DS9.
 
It's not that wetsuits look like start trek uniforms at all. Star Trek uniforms look like wetsuits.
 
... and it's not even really waterproof at all!
Don't confuse waterproof with watertight.

The suits tolerate water just fine. The fact that you get wet in them means they are not watertight. And within reason that's just fine for a wetsuit.

That's disturbing. My 3mm red & black Velocity will never look the same again.
