Hi all! I just got my open diver and I'm buying lots of gear for a setup.

I've got a AL80, Steel 40, pony 19, a DiveRite XT Advanced Reg Set, a DiveRite HydroLite BCD, HL100 backup reg and ABS backup 2nd stage reg, and various bits.

Gearing up eventually for solo but for now playing with the gear in my pool, liking all of scuba so far!

I thought I would show something I didn't like, I got this #4 "shot" weight that was actually scrap lead that started shaking particles as soon as I was loading it in the BCD. They use an a thick mesh in which you can't really tell until you cut it open. Back it goes!

Cheers!

Welcome. Soft weights are preferable if you're going to drop it on your foot, but over the long haul (though your's looks pretty new) the covering can wear out; going forward, I think I might buy hard weights if needed for local diving.

Richard.
