P.S. Kilili, Addendum

Just noticed---WOW You have over 1000 dives!!!...Do you have any other destination suggestions of similar characteristics, or are these two pretty awsome choices (with a buget <$10,000 for two.)

Thanks

Leanne,

YMMV, but we did not miss the AC.

Can't ever remember being uncomfortable on the island.

And due to the time change, we were often up at 4 am. Then we would move to the day bed in the adjacent open air hut for tea and cookies while waiting for dawn to break. Insects were never a problem and we would typically use a throw over our feet and legs.

Those early mornings were some of our most memorable moments.

There are a couple more suggestions for Fiji - Wananavu Resort and Beqa Lagoon Resort. Both have the Romantic stuff (bure rooms) but have AC. I haven't been to either one, but have friends who have and both come VERY highly recommended.

Beqa Lagoon Resort (Marlin Bay) - homepage

Right now, Caradonna has some specials going that have us tempted. I am looking hard at Beqa Lagoon....... the price, including air fare is about the same as going to most Caribbean destinations! Caradonna Dive Adventures - Dive Travel and Vacations

another place you may want to consider is Indonesia, Wakatobi resort in particular.

a few friends have been there and raved about it. The only negative we heard was that you have to fly to/from Bali, then take their small plane over to resort. Our friends spent a few days in Bali touring land stuff and said it was amazing. The resort is very romantic, too. It was recently listed as the "best" dive resort in the world by several dive magazines so the price has gone up. It is now quite a bit higher than Fiji but I think it is still in your price range.

I know you haven't mentioned the Caribbean, but I figured I'd throw this in. My husband and I got married at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Thomas. It was FABULOUS! We only stayed on STT a couple days and nights, then the REAL TREAT began. We boarded a boat for the week, with a captain and a cook/co-captain. We traveled all over the BVI's for great diving right from our "home"/boat. We ate gourmet every single meal, had great service from the crew, and went to the best dive sites in the BVI's. It was awesome. Maybe they have charter vacations in the South Pacific, too. Just a thought.
