I aim for five days a week now. Three involve both weights and cardio, two are just cardio.

Working out for seven days in a row leaves no time for recovery. The practical aspects always get in the way too - things like travel, work, and of course diving.

After a six year hiatus, I've been hitting the gym with regularity (5 days/week) the past five weeks...

Day 1: chest/biceps/abs/cardio
Day 2: Back/triceps/cardio
Day 3: shoulders/abs/cardio
Day 4: off
Day 5: biceps/triceps/forearms/abs/cardio
Day 6: hamstrings/quads/calves/cardio
Day 7: off

Weight training session (PM): 40-50 minutes
Cardio session (AM): 45 minutes

I used to do at least 3 days a week, 4 max. Now I try to do it daily.

I train about 4 days a week, unless my muscles are too sore.

Gym Workout A: 3x5 Squats, 3x5 Bench Press, 1x5 Deadlift, 2x8 Dips (barbells where apply)
Gym Workout B: 3x5 Squats, 3x5 Standing Military Press, 3x5 Bent Rows, 2x8 Chin-Ups (barbells where apply)

I do an A, day rest, B, day rest, A, ... routine. After the weight training I also go jogging (about 5-7km), and I have diveclubtraining every thursday, which includes dynamic apnea's, cardiotraining, swimming laps (with or without fins), ...

It keeps me healthy!

Five days a week for me, weights, circuit training, elliptical or treadmill:

Monday; Biceps/Triceps Shoulders for 35 minutes, Cardio 35 minutes
Tuesday; Legs for 35 minutes, Cardio 35 minutes
Wednesday; Back/chest for 35 minutes, Cardio 35 minutes
Thursday; Legs for 35 minutes, Cardio 35 minutes
Friday; Abs/lower back for 35 minutes, Cardio 35 minutes

Saturday; Play Days; Golf, Hike, bike, ride my H/D, etc
Sunday; Rest Day

This has been working great for me. I am healthier, happier, and more pleasant to be around.

BTW, as you all know it also makes for a better diver.

Dave

atleast 30 mins a day of some cardio. Been trying to get back on the weights.

When I am not traveling 24/7....

AM cardio 45 min 5 days a week
Weights 4 days a week, with 2 days to include abs
PM cardio = 30 min walk before dinner 3-5 days a week

My god - you guys are all professionals!

After a 12 year hiatus from competitive running I'm slowly dragging my carcase back into some degree of fitness:

1: 30 min walk; 20-30 min jog at 80-85% max HR; 30 min weights
2: 30 min walk
3: 30 min walk; 20-30 min jog at 80-85% max HR; 30 min weights
4: 30 min walk
5: 30 min walk; 20-30 min jog at 80-85% max HR; 30 min weights
6: 60 min walk
7: 30 min swim or run.

Starting out from a base of zero I found walking a lot in the early weeks really helped burn the lard and get the body conditioned for running.

Cheers,
Rohan.
