Nah, more of a seagull poster. Fly in leave a pile, fly out.

what equipment would you use, specifically? No boat.
If you had no gear, what would you buy?

Say, in the neighborhood of a grand.
Water temperature 65 - 70. There is no need to go below water. You don't have to plan a return trip.

Swim.

Snorkel, securely attached to the left side of my mask, and split-fins.

cement shoes and 10 miles of garden hose...

No return trip?

If you are planning to run from something, smuggle drugs or munitions, the plan will fail.

The odds of successfully performing a disappearing act are slim to none.

I grew up with a fella that staged his own diving death off Florida. He took a row boat with his dive gear way out in the Gulf and had a buddy pick him up from Houston. We were clowned and thought he had died. Everyone was fooled but the law. A few years later he was picked up by the Marshals and went to prison. The OP sounds like he/she is formulating a similar dumb plan.

Hopefully, it is just a hypothetical question that will have no answer.

Interesting troll...

Windsurf board.
BINGO!

Or a kiteboard and kite. Many folks have gone much further around the Hawaiian islands that way. Google Robbie Nash for one example.
