A passing boat found a dive buoy and stringer I think, no diver, so a search was organized. Once it made the news...

Search called off after diver reports he's safe - Hawaii News - Honolulu Star-Advertiser
The search for a possible missing diver off the west coast of Oahu has been called off after the diver alerted rescuers that he was not in distress.
The Coast Guard, fire department and police began a search Monday after the captain of a dive vessel from Dolphin Excursions found a dive float with recently speared fish floating about 200 yards offshore at a Waianae beach.
A water and aerial search was launched between Lahilahi Point and the Waianae Boat Harbor.
The diver recognized his float on the news and contacted the Coast Guard. He told the Coast Guard he lost it last week near Kaena Point.
The Coast Guard recommends labeling watercraft and equipment with the owner's name, address and phone number to prevent unnecessary searches.
I guess the speared fish were older than they seemed...

He saw his stuff on the evening news. Scrambled the fleet and the planes because he lost some gear... It looks like a boat prop got it though.

Put your name on your float. :D

:zen:

Wtih a title like that, how will you attract the trolls? :)

What do you mean by 'it looks like a prop got it'? How far from the float was the line severed?
