OK, who peed in their wetsuit! Dang if they only would use the dye thing that interacts with pee as they did in South Park this wouldn't be an issue:D

Sad day... OK maybe they will get a stimulus check to clean and filter the water.

Below Augusta on the Savannah River the EPA doesn't seem to get too upset about the mercury content until the divers start drifting to the surface on warm days - sorry Savannah.:shakehead: OK, maybe a little bit of an exaggeration ...- but you decide:

this is sad when you look at the risks of the bacteria (the reason we can't play) with the fresh water flow from the springs being right there. sad... :( If the gate is locked. (It wouldn't be for the boat ramp) just hump your gear to the water. It is a further walk but it's that or we start visiting the boat ramp. It would be nice even if they simply posted a sign and gave US the option to get wet or not at OUR own risk.

WOW they should start to police the fishermen and prevent them from eating the fish that are caught in water that doesn't pass the bacteria test... Please.....Quit preventing us from DIVING in our nature!!!

It's back open again!

Dear Diving and Swimming Enthusiasts:

Morrison Springs is now open for swimming and diving. Although the Park has been open during the past several days for picnicking and hiking, the water was closed to swimming and diving by the Walton County Health Department due to high levels of bacteria believed to be caused by recent rains. Today, Health Department officials received new test results showing the waters to be safe for diving and swimming and are removing the ÅÏo swimming / diving signs this evening (Tuesday, May 19.)

Thanks very much for the update. Good news!
Bless,

I would not dive this! Sure there is bacteria everywhere, but this bacteria comes from fecal matter.

The 50-100 million gallons of water that pumps out of the cavern each day is probably the cleanest you can find within several thousand miles. It's the runoff washed into the rivers that's full of !@#$%.

But if you want to stay away, that's fine with me. I have it on good authority that Vortex Spring is the only place suitable for freshwater diving in the state of Florida. Enjoy your stay.
