It's easy to get tossed in jail for trying shore diving at the wrong time of the year [end of July through 2nd/3rd week of August], the locals in/near Marathon have had a lot of unpleasant episodes with the mini-season bug divers.
That being said, the bridges make great dives, just watch out for the tide shift or you'll be on your way to Cuba.
