Need a cleaning/lube tip

Lube will hold sand and dirt. If you need to clean it, simple green and a toothbrush will work wonders on just about anything.
 
After each dive (usually shore entries) I like to stand under the shower with all my gear on first. I agree that sometimes the communal tubs get really really gunky, and I try to avoid that. Final rinse is usually done at home (I'm actually soaking my gear right now after coming from a dive trip this weekend).

As for the yoke knob, I also use vinegar if I see some crud on it. I think I'm actually a bit OC when it comes to my gear. Sometimes, I end up polishing my brass clips just to get them nice and shiny again.
