First of all, I am just now looking into a BP/W set up and have found this discussion extremely helpful. Thanks all! This site is a great resource.

Secondly, what the hell is an STA?

STA's are just that, an "Adapter"

Originally Back plates and wings were developed as a way to mount Doubles, and needed to be "Adapted" for use with single tanks.

STA's are not required with a DSS Backplate and Wing.
