Dive Boat?? I don't know anything about a dive boat! I'm thinking the steel 80's Santa (AKA Chuck) is getting me for Christmas. :05: (never too early to start thinkin' 'bout that, ya know.)

You're not thinking steel 120's? That would be nice... Boat owner gets to drive, and follow the bubbles?

Uh oh, did I let the cat outta da bag? :D Woops, my bad. Um, on a side note...Jenny, you gotta "put the word in" for me....Hearbeat smilie is GONE!!! :crying: I got no cable or satellite TV. My Chevy S-10 was brutally assulted by a backing flat bed semi yesterday. I haven't been diving in weeks. But the smilie issues..........pushing me really close to the edge here!:11:

Nah, dive wrecks and places you can anchor. Better still, a wise boat owner takes non-diving, boat driving friend along. :D

Sorry Lil to hear about the truck. Dang a Chevy no less. Wouldn't feel so bad if it was, say, a ford...but a Chevy. That's just wrong!
As for the smilies, I have let the ones who are the teckkies know of this dilemma.

We just got Dish Network about 2 months ago with every channel they have ( it was cheaper since we have 4 tvs) Two recievers are hd and the third is a dvr which functions as individual recievers for two tv's with two remotes. We only have one hd tv which is in the family room and works pretty nicely as far as quality goes, but is only HD when the channel is broadcast in HD. So you are not going to have the best quality on all channels. I would say on only about 10-20 channels, mainly the movie ones.

The DVR is Phenomenal. You can pause live tv. Rewind it, Play it, then rewind it again for those scenes where you just can't make out what they said. You can also schedule to record shows which are on at bizarre times.

Honestly, even though HD quality is nice when available, I am not sure it is really worth getting when compared to DVR.

As far as signal loss, I believe we have only lost it once and it was during a really really bad rainstorm. But we did have signal for the hurricanes, which again is bizarre.

Reason we chose satellite instead of cable, well, looking at the roof tops of the 20 or so town homes in my community, everyone has satellite dish. We asked why, and apparently the cable reception goes out more than with satellite which is odd since these town homes are about 2 years old.

Hope this helps.

Andrew

BTW, snooping around the different things on the satellite reciever, I found a couple of channels for Karaoke. Really weird!

A comment on DVR and TIVO. They may sound the same, but they are NOT the same. We went from DirectTV with TIVO to Time-Warner (too many tv's in the house to make Direct cost effective) with DVR. The quality of the two signals are about the same most of the time. BUT, TIVO is so far superior to DVR especially if you plan on doing a lot of recording. I'd jump at switching back over to TIVO if I could. TIVO got most of it right (I never appreciated them adding to my selected channels in the guide the gay porn movies they want to sell, and all my phone calls did nothing to prevent them from being downloaded back into my guide after being deleted) and DVR is more like 90's technology. Still a lot better than a VCR, but....

just went thru hurricane RITA ..... both electricty and cable out for 3 weeks ..... thank GOD for our gas powered electric generator .... powered all the major appliances including the DSS Disk so we were able to watch Dallas Cowboy football on sunday ....

Well, I did it yesterday. Went to Circuit City (and had the most miserable and frustrating buying experience, but that story is for another time) and after three (*&^*$$%$%*$$**!!!!!) hours walked out with Panasonic 27' widescreen HD tv (crt), tv stand, Terk tv55 indoor/outdoor antenna(for local HD reception), surge protector,S-Video monster cable (for my DVD player) and all the necessary HDDirectTV geegaws and the one thing I WASN'T going to buy (ok so I'm weak, weak as water) I bought the HDDVR-Tivo. Spent the rest of the afternoon assembling and hooking up what I can. All I can say is WOW. Stayed up very late watching shows and some of my DVDs. The DirectTV installer will be here Tues. to set the dish and the other stuff. I probably won't see the sun for along time.
Thanks to everyone for their great advice.
Well back to couch potato mode.

Uh oh, couch potato mode makes you gain weight! And if you don't get out in the sun some, you'll get all pale and sickly looking! Before long, even your dog won't recognize you!:11:
