What is wrong with a sharp razor blade, or a small pair of side cutters? I use either or, but agree, not having a sharp plastic piece to cut yourself on is nice.

Jeez... I've used the cheapest ones I could find and have not had any of them break. In fact most of them were hard to get off without wire cutters. As for UV resistant ones, that might be a good idea but I don't leave my BCD out in the sun when I'm through diving and I certainly don't worry about UV when I'm submerged.

Twisting the tag end off with pliers prevents a sharp edge (an electrician taught me that). Also, if you are OCD like me, a quick burn with a lighter finishes it off well (LOL Jim, spoons are for junkies :rofl3:)....

I heat up a brass spoon like tool I waterjetted out and smooth them.

I heard he made a tooth pick out of 1" stock once....:D
