Granted my budget isn't as big as a lot of you guys', but why pay $130 to upgrade a backup light? I have an old xenon scout that got me a almost mile out of a cave, on a scooter.

before y'all knock it, please take it for a dive, or at least see it in the water. it is really nice... it holds it own as a vacation or non-canister primary...

I had just changed the batteries in April and they worked fine but a slight bit dim during a UTD REC 2 class (got some DIR content in there). Typically I change the batteries at least the start of every dive season and this time I changed them again just before the class to make sure they were fresh.

Not to be a jerk, but why is this in the DIR forum? A light failure isn't peculiar to DIR.

Saying a Scout light isn't by definition DIR is like saying the Wheel isn't PADI...
