Hey everyone sharks are awesome but the problem is they dont stay long to get a pic or anything so post your experience when a shark showed up and any pics if you can of them! Thanks

look @ my avatar AND do the shark dive , Cara a Cara, by the 2 Italians on the south side of Roatan....

Nemrod...is that the Bahamas Shark Dive with Unexso?

Yes, it is. Actually we dove those patch reefs, not as a shark dive and yet there were dozens of friendly sharks swimming even between my wife and I much to her aggravation, kinda hard to hold hands like she does with a shark between her and me. Then we came back a second time and they did the tourist shark feed for us which despite my thoughts on feeding wild animals turned out to be fun. No, we were not skeered, I just don't think it is good for wild animals to be fed, I think it is a bad practice and harmful to them as it alters their natural feeding cycles and behaviors.

Have you ever been to a griz feed in Montana? No, if you did it would not turn out so well I assure you.

Sand Tigers/Grey Nurse sharks! Awesome!

Just remember, when they all hug the bottom, you should too - there is probably a huge motha' great white nearby!

The best look I ever had at a shark was in Papua New Guinea. I was drifting along a wall solo at about 50 feet searching for nudibranchs when a Great Hammerhead cruised straight towards me from the depths, eventually passing within a couple of feet of me at a leisurely pace. Of course I had a macro lens on at the time (NikonosV with extension tubes) so I just enjoyed the view--once it seemed clear he was just looking. I could have taken a couple of dozen shots in that time if I had the appropriate lens. But then I'd probably have 24 lousy slides and a foggy recollection of the experience.

These were taken more recently, in the digital era, (20mm lens) so it's a lot harder to foul them up. If you go someplace like Cocos, where these were taken, you'll always have the right lens, because you know there will be sharks on every dive. They don't stay this close for very long, but there's usually another one coming your way.

sharks don't like the bubbles and divers swimming directly at them. Your best bet is to stay still and let them come to you. Of course, in Palau it doesn't work that way... we actually got pulled into a school of sharks by the current. Woo hoo!
