I always used Less Pay by the Barracuda hotel. Though there are lots of good rental places like Hertz and Avis. If you put pen to paper and avg how many taxi trips you would take a day, it usually gets close to the cost of the rental. For me it was 2 trips to get to/from the dive shop. Then to and from town every night for dinner. And usually a trip to and from town during the day for the wife and her girlfriends to shop. Then toss in sight seeing (to chakanaab or a beach club etc) and it really adds up!
Now here is the kicker, the first time we rented a jeep for the whole week....we found ourselves going and doing more than ever! Need to go to Chedrui, no problem! Wanna take all your dirty laundry to the laundry mat the day before you leave, no problem! Drive along the water front and watch the sunset, then to dinner and then drive to town to shop, no problem! The list of things to do when you have a vehicle at your disposal is truely endless and will make your vacation that much funer!
