The only time I've had trouble is when I've gotten some kind of marine "crud" in the socket on the computer, and it mucked up the contacts - a bit of water and a toothbrush took care of that.

I think that's usually the case with mine, too. Keep 'em clean and they're fine.

The Stinger goes in a bracket that holds in in place, the Cobra has a little "socket" the fits in a receptacle in the back.
