I've never had a problem.

are spring-loaded, and they also have a "clip" arrangement so you don't have to hold the connector on the computer.

The only time I've had trouble is when I've gotten some kind of marine "crud" in the socket on the computer, and it mucked up the contacts - a bit of water and a toothbrush took care of that.

I think that's usually the case with mine, too. Keep 'em clean and they're fine.

The Stinger goes in a bracket that holds in in place, the Cobra has a little "socket" the fits in a receptacle in the back.
