Another thread got me started thinking, and I wonder if I'm swimming too much while underwater.

If you need to ask the question, then yes you are swimming too much.

Its good to know how to swim hard because you sometimes need it, but mostly this is a low phyical intensity sport.
It might be time to focus on precision rather than speed.
