Warren_L:
Ken, ya gotta get up here for some wreck diving in the great white north. I'll plan it for the middle of August, but no guarantees that the temps still won't get into "ice box" territory. Surface temps will be in the "nice day for a dive" territory, but you can drop through a some thermoclines pretty quick. But hey, it's what we got..... :)

Oh, yeah, we can pick up a copy of the WSJ just in case.

I will be there in August. I need to move some things around, but I owe you, man. You've been down here in my neck many, many times.

Drink water diving. What a concept. I'd love to come up.

We'll talk more about it soon.

Jaye says "hi"!

PS: you won't believe this. Me and 'dette were in Avalon over the weekend of 3/9, and sitting on the ground against the Casino was a shard of clear plastic... kinda roundish. I took a closer look - it was schrapnal from your exploding Vytec cover! A piece of it is still there... I was cracking up retelling the story to Claudette.

Under my toasty 7mm neoprene drysuit all I wear is some wooly, fluffy socks and some UnderArmour ColdGear (or equivalent...). If it's really cold, I have a pair of Polartec running pants (skin-tight) that work under my suit...but beyond that...just some skivvies and wool socks. :)

Cheers,
Austin

Would like to know what you guys wear under your dry suit...."undergarment"...

Above 40 degrees water temp: Layers of Polartec outdoorwear over a polypropylene wicking layer. All from Cabela's.

Below 40: Weezle Extreme Plus over a polypropylene wicking layer.

Plus a homemade fleece "chest pad" of varying thicknesses.

Me duhh----

j/k I wear a DUI 400g thinsulate ulta under my CLx450 S.C. But for summer +50 water I were a sweatshirt and sweat pants with long undwear. Im looking at Cabela's polartech undies they sell for cheep or a bare undies suit from scuba-toys.

Under TLS350 and when needing DC TPS Extreme

- in 50-65F only climatex type breathing sports t-shirt and bike shorts for sweat collecting
- 45-55F EMS polypro underwear (or just top with bike shorts)
- 45F and below UnderArmour Cold Gear or thin fleece hiking underwear

when it gets real cold I have trialed stuffing my 4th Element Arctic top on top or under the TPS, gets clumsy but warm

Warmer than that I toss the jumpsuit, and use the 4th Element top and a climatex t-shirt under it, and just thin EMS polypro longjohns

Is the question what you wear under your drysuit or what you wear under your drysuit undergarment?

The first: 4th Element, Regular or Artic depending on temp. Or Underarmor and track pants if warm. At the end of the week in scapa it got to all the above sans trackpants.

The second: Ex-Officio Travel underwear works well, wicks and is comfy. Also good for well...traveling.

Similar to Ken, since we both dive SoCal. (Also similar since I chose my gear based on what he and Claudette wear!)

Carol's as the base layer, and since I don't have the cool DUI 300w stuff I make do with the DiveRite 200w polartech jumpsuit. I get a little cold from time to time, but nothing serious. I wear Thor-Lo heavy trekking socks and some thin polarfleece oversocks on my feet and never had any issues with feet being cold. I wear Henderson Insta-Dry 3mm (wet) gloves, and yes, my hands get a little cold cold from time to time but I do well overall there. I may have to give the dryglove thing a try sometime...

I dive the Pacific Northwest, and the water on my last 4 dives was 45-48 degrees below the thermacline. I wear some thin jogging pants and a t shirt and sweater under a Northern Diver Dry Suit. Ya, its a bit cold on the second dive of the day, and I have to pick up something warmer, but you do what you must. My instructor started diving these waters in a 7MM wet suit, so I figure Im ahead of where he started.

Get it? Depends! HA! No, actually I only wear those when I'm driving down to Florida.

Water here's from 45F to 55F, and I wear the fleece jumpsuit that came with my High Tide neoprene suit. Haven't used the vest that came with it yet. Under that I wear Cabella's polypropylene long johns. And two pairs of wooly boot socks.
