we dont want to stay in resorts we are seasoned Asian travellers and would be happy with a guest house and a decent dive shop/op.

PG dives are usually around US$20-22. some resorts have packages if you dive 3 dives a day (it will cost you US$45 for 3 dives, own equipment) or if you do 7 or more dives with them for the duration of your stay.
big apple dive resort accommodation is around US$10-20 a night, depends on the kind of rooms you are staying and how long you are staying with them. they have free wifi too

.bubblemonkey:my wife will be looking out for the big stuff, but really we like being in the water full stop.
the only diving we are not huge fans of is current diving (to much like hard work) although drift is fine.
we are both advanced divers with close to 100 dives, well over 100 by the time we get to you guys.
if any of you can recomend any dive centers and or places to stay around PG and the Visayas that would be awesome, we are on a budget and lets say around $10 a day for acomodation.
what sort of price is a dive in the PI?

The folks at Sabang Inn have a better deal and it much more quiet at that end of the beach. The dive guides there are really serious about keeping their divers in the water too.

room prices in sabang inn is okay. diving is good there if you get the pinoy guides. dove with one of their foreign DMs with a malaysian diver who joined our group. the malaysian diver had problems going down and was caught by a strong current and we couldnt see her for a long time. DM didnt even try to help of find her and opted to just wait til she found us. towards the end of the dive, same diver shot up and and pointed her to the DM . he just shrugged like "i dont know what she's doing up there either."
