You've got grandchildren listed - how about your own children?

My daughter is my main buddy.

Marc :jester:

Oops............ Somehow I left children out. That should fall into category 2.

BTW, I do not have a regular buddy. Just buddy up with whoever that shows up at a dive center for a dive. Is that common? or bad?

My dives are usually the leisurely type with a dive guide. All done off the coast of Malaysia in warm and calm tropical island water.

i dive mostly with the spouse though before she got into diving i dive with a dive buddy i met at the LDS. the common theme here - always with someone you know ...

but then again ???

My daughter is a frequent dive buddy but I've met a lot of nice people on group dives through my local dive shop, we've exchanged numbers and emails so I get together with four or five other people on occasion

though I have not been to much diving trip (only 3 so far :D) but my buddy are either my course instructor or pple whom I get to noe on those dive trip.

hopefully I get to find a regular buddy as the days goes by :)

:newbie: here too :)

Once again a poll tries to keyhole divers, and it just doesn't work/fit.
For example, when diving just for fun in warm clear waters, the Lovely Young Kat, my Bride, is my main buddy, but sometimes it's either or both my daughters. Unless, of course, they've all gone shopping, when my "cold water/high current/low vis/lousy conditions" buddy & I ('cause *his* bride will be with 'em too) will dive together. My "lousy conditions" buddy is another old fart who, like me, is willing to dive in a mud puddle in the wintertime just to get wet. He's also my wreck buddy.
My caving buddies are cave nuts who I have to blast out of the springs to get them to make the occasional salt water dive...
My instructing buddies are my DiveCons (Dive Control Specialists - SSI version of Divemaster/Assistant Instructor).
There are also my "occasional" buddies - my old college roommate, for example, who lives 8,000 miles from here - we'll meet somewhere to go diving every couple years or so.
My main spearfishing buddy is my brother-in-law.
Rick :) :) :)

I have two whom I class as my buddies, one on each side of the world.
These are the only two people I will do a challenging dive with.

One is my Father in law (who is also my best friend)
the other is my IT consultant whom I have befriended.

Both are Excellant divers, that I continue to learn from on every dive.

I also dive with alot of other people for fun dives.........anyone free next weekend?????

Dave

Still waiting on Phillip to get certified :hour:

Will never be able to get my mom certified! :scared:

My dad chickened out of our class :cluck:
No really he just smoked too much :rasta: and was way out of shape.

So basically I rely on friends and strangers who I meet on the boats!

My best dive buddy has been my pony bottle. It has never deserted me once on any dive. ...................Arduous
