I'm the new guy going solo, I would really like to make this and meet some new people. thanks for the opportunity. I'm fairly new to diving and was wondering as far as tanks, whats the best way to go? I'm buying 2 steel 72's today. does anyone go for refills?
Thanks!

Billy
People will go for refills. Sometimes it will be someone with a truck hauling them over to one of the local shops and sometimes we each go on our own.

Look forward to meeting you!

Hi Christian

I'll be there and I'll bring some Fruit. Have not been in the Ocean for two months I can't wait!!!!!

just so you guys are aware, this is going to be the same weekend as the long beach grand prix, which means its going to be even harder to get down there and getting home so make sure everyone plans accordingly.

The Guerin's will be in the FL Keys. Just thought everyone should know that. :10:

"Doc" will be diving somewhere on Catalina. Know everyone already knows that! However, I do hope to make the O.C. or S.D. Wrinkles Dive.

Since Redondo Beach should not be affected by traffic in Long Beach, that shouldn't be a problem.

For those of you coming up the 405, isten to the traffic report on the way up and maybe plan to go around the 405/710 interchange to get to the 110 and exit on Torrance.

It looks like Thursday and Friday will be sunny leading up to a sunny day on Saturday with another storm coming on Sunday, so our timing could not have been better!

From everyone's experiences, can you park campers in the metered parking lot? If not is there a convenient and close place to park one? And is a space heater is necessary? I've got some friends going, dont know how many yet, that are afraid of the cold :)
Thanks!

Yes! It's a big parking lot, and I've seen moderate sized campers there frequently. When arriving before noon, you'll find many open spaces and can choose the ones on the end that offer a little more space.
Heat? If Headhunters weather prediction is correct, surface intervals should be beautifully warmed by the sun. The parking lot is right next to the lovely park.
If the wind comes up later in the day, retreating to the camper should offer enough protection. Meters need 4 quarters/hour, and the parking enforcement minions are eager :11doh: . Have a GREAT DAY! If you're still there for the night dive, I'll look forward to meeting you :)

... does anyone go for refills?
Thanks!

DiveNSurf is the closest dive shop for refills/gear, perhaps a 5 minute drive. They fill air only, with a submersion tank, so fills are phat and phast... $5. They will be open until 8PM Saturday, so late afternoon divers can easily get fills for a night dive. They'll fill right up to closing time if you arrive with a smile :D .

Directions:
Exit the Vet's parking lot, turning LEFT on Esplanade.
Turn LEFT on Catalina (Stoplight. 2 lanes on left may turn left.) Move casually to the right lane in the next half mile.
Turn RIGHT on Beryl (Stoplight).
Turn LEFT at the next street (30 yards!) and you'll see the Blue&White DiveNSurf sign.

Have fun!

Empty, are you talking about Friday or early Saturday?

Headhunter, since my dear dear friends Rickster and Teresa are coming, and he is bringing weenies, switch me to muffins and OJ for breakfast in the morning.

Also, my wife, Laura, and kids, Kynedi and Kaedyn are coming in the afternoon, so everybody, NO STORIES ABOUT MY EXPLOITS AT CASINO POINT!

Teresa, you have got a buddy on the way in Laura.

Looking forward to seeing everybody, especially the Lt. Colonel.
