I'll update this first post as a running synopsis of this thread.

When: Saturday, July 8th
Where: Avalon Underwater Dive Park at Casino Point, Catalina Island

What is the Wrinkles Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and sometimes even camping!

It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!

It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".

RSVP:

I've started a ScubaBoard Calendar event for you to RSVP here:

The Calendar feature will not be active while we optimize the new ScubaBoard servers. It may not be available until after this Wrinkles event.
(you can now rsvp and include your guest count!)

Please sign up on the Calendar. This will help us get an idea of how many people will be there so that we can set aside a space by the Casino that is big enough for all of us to hang out together.

Please update your party size on the calendar with changes.

I am so here. Jake is a 75% right now. Booked Friday night at the Hermosa (coming over on the 3:30 PM boat)... so where we eating Friday?

More importantly, what time are we breaking out the port and dominos Friday night? Ann Marie, you in? ( :D )

Ken

No, not really. The benefit of renting at the Casino is that you don't have to lug them, plus it's sometimes quicker to get fills. If you rent they usually have replacements waiting so you just swap for a full tank. Otherwise you'll have to wait for them to fill your tank.

By the way, I'm in for this trip. Yeah, baby.

They rent tiny tanks. That's my issue with renting tanks. My 130 holds almost twice the gas of the tanks they rent there (72's and 80's)... I want crazy BT - so I always schlep my own tank.

For this trip, I'll probably bring two - so I can night dive on Friday, and dive first AM on Sat.

Thanks Ken, how do you transport everything around? Do you use a service or bring a dolly?

Billy
What I do is not the norm, but I use a dolly with 2 tubs on it and my tank goes across the top of those. I use a strap with a ratchet to hold that together and then have a shoulder bag with my clothes, etc. I typically just roll it through town.

I'm coming and will be putting on the Catalina Conservancy Divers' Scuba Trail. For those who don't know what that is, it's a good introduction to flora and any fauna that won't swim away for new divers and divers new to the area.

I don't know whether I'll make it into the water myself, but my new and improved foot and I WILL be present.
