Yes the glove is pulled over the ring. That glove works but is $$, most use marigold gloves at $3 a pair.

I use gloves like these, and they're ok, but my hands do get a little cold.
 
you don't use any liner?

I use the Merino glove liner from DRIS. I have not used a straw to help equalize, maybe that works better, I just tuck the liner and an undergarment loop under the seal, that doesn't do much. Anyhow, they're cheap, and my hands haven't fallen off yet...
