Next week I am travelling to Jakarta on business.
My return flight is via Bali and I have a brief stopover (Arrive Bali 18.00 Friday, leave Bali Monday 11.00 am)

My options are
· Just relax/party in Kuta
· 1 & 1/2 days diving (perhaps 6 dive in Tulamben or 3-4 dives out of PB)

I have dived all over Bali so I am aware what is on offer.

Questions.
1. How is the drive to Tulamben at night? Is travel time still 3+ hours?
2. Is it ok to check into a resort at 22.00-23.00 (Scuba seraya)
3. Current water temp in Tulamben? (I do not intend to take all my dive kit so may just take my sharkskin top)
4. Are the Jacks still at Tulamben?

I think you'll probably relax more in Tulamben then you do in Kuta :).

Every time I've been to Tulamben the beautiful clouds of jacks are there!

I'd contact the resort and ask about a pick up, late check in and the travel time.

Driving to Tulamben at night is usually much faster once you have passed Sanur - but if you arrive at 1800 on a Friday evening you will get the rush hour traffic around Kuta (plus jams when leaving the airport because of the construction work) - Suspect that overall you can plan for a 3h drive...
 
Dove Tulamben earlier in the trip i'm on..water temp was 28-29, and drive time was a much-improved not too much over 2 hours! sad to say the jacks weren't there..operator i dove with said they hadn't been there in awhile
 
Kev, no school of Jacks...Water temp today 27-28C Topside been 35+ Still lots to see! What dates are you around?
 
Rumour has it that the jacks have moved on towards Amed!
 
Yeah i read a report last month that the Jacks had moved on.

Anyway looks like i will not be diving , I am now on a late evening flight into Bali & scuba seraya is fully booked.

Hows the trip?You seen any MM yet?
