I will be on Maui for memorial day weekend and I am wanting to get atleast one day of diving in, but I will be staying in Kula. With the elevation there, is it recommended to not dive because of the elevation or would I be ok with it?

You probably shouldn't, it's 3000' up there.

My wife and I stayed up in Kula our trip as well.

We did one charter out of Kihei and spent most of the day, 6 hours plus, at sea level after the dive before returning upcountry.

We based this on the PADI table where a 6 hour surface interval brings you back to pressure group A even if you are some how at pressure group Z.
