Hi there,

Probably a common question but i didnt find what i was searching for,

Currently im in Canada, but im looking to take some flights to the caribbean for various diving trips.
But apart from going to an All Inclusive resort and then paying additional money for a single day single dive trip i didnt find anything interesting.

Anyone know of some companies that include full scuba packages?
Flight + rooming + dives for the duration on the trip?

Or perhaps flight and then living on the boat for a few days of diving then docking and flying back?

Anything would be useful, looking at something under 1000$ right now.

I can't help but I'll be watching this thread because I'd be interested in something too. That's a pretty low budget for a full package, though. How long a trip are you considering?

About the only liveaboard you can do for less than $1000 is Blackbeards out of Nassau. It's $939+ fees. Flights are extra. Blackbeard's Cruises Liveaboards, Bahamas scuba diving

Spree does the Dry Tortugas from Key West for $995. You could possibly find a cheap flight to MIA or FLL and take the Greyhound bus down from there. A van shuttle down is pretty pricey ($200 rt?) also. Dry Tortugas

From Canada you might see what you can do to Cozumel. A lot of Canadians seem to go there. I've seen "Funjet" mentioned for cheap direct flights. A place like Hotel Villablanca bundles room/diving for $750 for a week (15 boat dives) single occupancy. Food/transportation/flights are extra. There's 3 dive operators on premise plus a shallow shore dive. Diving in Cozumel - Villablanca Garden Beach Hotel, Cozumel

Do something now if possible, this is low season in the Caribbean till about 9/15.

Check [-]solo[/-]singledivers.com, they bundle group trips together for solo (not necessarily single) travelers. Typically you'll share accommodations with someone else.

Caradonna.com might be worth checking also. IDK what they offer for single travelers but they have package deals all over.

There's a couple of Hostels in Roatan's West End. $10/nt. Food is cheap there, you won't need/want a car. All the nightlife is there also. Dives are 10/$300 in a package. The flight will probably be most of your $1000 though. Chillies: Best Budget Hotel on Roatan Island $50 r/t cab ride from the airport and $40 departure tax. Some good general info: Roatán, West End | Scuba Diving | Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras | PADI

Stuart Coves has some inexpensive ($400-600) 3-4 day Nassau packages thru Orange Hill Inn. It's all boat diving and they pick you up. You'd need/want a car to go into Nassau although there might? be a bus. http://www.stuartcove.com/DiveBahamasMgmt.aspx?id=2&pageId=13

Realistically I think you'll have to just about double your budget to find anything decent.

Sweet, thank you for the info,
Going to look into the Nassau ones,

Cozumel i'm actually going in January so that im looking forward to.

But the one off of KeyWest going to check as well since its pretty close to me here.

Beaches Resorts are all inclusive packages and include 2 tank AM dives with 1 tank PM dives, night dives if enough divers have interest. Food, alcohol also included with credit for airfare. Several locations including Turks & Caicos and Jamaica. Rates depend on the level of room you book.

Try Caradonna Dive Travel Agency on the Internet

Blackbird Caye has it's own dive resort and they have full dive packages with meals included. Not for $1000 though, but if you decide to spend the money it is a great place. It is way out and most dives are a very short ride away, and you gett o go back to the island for your SI. Go while Paul is running the place and Cardinal is a DM.

I'm a dive specialist travel agent from Toronto and I don't like to give out free advice but I'll give you one freebie...Blackbeard cruises is a bunk style liveaboard in the Bahamas but if you are a solo traveller (not sure you didn't mention) there is nothing priced better. The liveaboard is $939 + $100 in fees and AC has a sale for flights from Toronto to Nassau for approx $450 (you didn't mention your gateway). All in for $1500 is ridiculously cheap for approximately 20 dives, food and drinks. You definitely need to re-evaluate the $1000 all in price point because there is one thing I have found out with Scuba diving; you get what you pay for.

Cuba has insanely cheap vacation packages and if you only have $1000 you can make it work...only issue is their tanks are notorious for spewing rust into your regs so make sure you get them serviced when you get back to Canada...but you just might have to buy a new reg and octo, which would kind of negate looking for a sub $1000 scuba vacation package.

The other post about Roatan is absolutely right...gorgeous spot but you won't be under $1000 with the flights, accommodations and dives.
