Are you serious? Why do I need to know what the issue is? Inadequate picture? The smudge can only be seen at certain angle with the right amount of light on it. It was extremely hard to take that picture.

Here is a video for you. Sorry if it is inadequate for your standards.

Are YOU serious?

Listen, if you're unhappy then of course return it for a refund. Shearwater is a standup company that stands behind their products and has excellent customer service.

Creating a whiny thread on the internet about this says volumes more about your character than it does Shearwater's QCA process or their customer service.

The computer is brand new, paid full price. They asked me to take additional pictures at a certain angle to see if the color shifted, whatever that F mean. I think this is ridiculous to be honest. I am more than happy to ship them the unit so they can spend as much time as they want doing their CSI work on it. I just want a new computer. I am sorry if I am offending the SW cult here.
I don’t get it … why don’t you just talk to the shop? Get it exchanged or refund it and get a new one?

And a few posts above, he said that's exactly what he ended up doing. Why he didn't do that in the first place and instead sought something from us random people on the Internet, I do not know.

Exactly. DiveTronix is a service center, not Shearwater itself. One reason to buy from an "authorized demo center" (i.e., authorized dealer) is they must stand behind what they sell. They sold him what he claimed was a defective computer; they own the problem. When he finally went to them -- as he should have in the first place -- they responded as they should have, and refunded him. Problem solved.

He appears to be upset likely because he interprets DiveTronix's request for more info as impuning his integrity and honesty. His bitch here was also questioned...and he has not really been very forthcoming about what the problem really was. It was described as a "weird smudge" buttressed by an inadequate picture, and no info beyond that. He is upset because he is being questioned; it is mainly an ego problem, not a computer problem.

OP seemed to be trying to call out SW Quality Control as suspect/useless based on a singular experience… which is a bit silly as he had no real proof that this left SW with that “defect”.

In the end, it was returned to the shop he brought it from, as would have always been the best course of action. Why involve SW unless you are willing to get it fixed? And why even consider that for a brand new computer (though I’d bet SW would have replaced it as well).

As does the use of vertical video
Vertical video …. Now I am angry 😤

😂

It’s a bit funny that the thread ends up with the OP getting the replacement he wants but somehow he still believes Shearwater is somewhat guilty of something. He kind of proved that the support of these products is excellent …

Yea not sure why he didn’t just return it immediately instead of crying on here about shearwater QC. Then calling us a cult for asking questions 🤣

Was I missing something in that video? I didn’t see anything.

Big Question: Why didn’t the OP just take it back to the store and ask for a new one to start? Why involve SW service? And us?

I guess he wanted to vent his frustration?
