Again,

I don't see how this violates the Spirit of the ToS and I personally see a lot of positives with people being nice to each other.

We live in a busy society and many people can only log in on a limited basis. They feel it's important to do what they do: who are we to disagree? Again, it's easy to trim the "new posts" to exclude this forum, and you only need to jump on to the forum to see who you need to welcome.

If I may, why do you feel compelled to welcome people? No need to answer, but I figure that these posters have much the same motivation: you want to be a part of something REALLY big. Instead of bristling against these people with a common goal of yours, learn to accept them as who they are: your fellow Board members. You all want to make a positive difference, but you approach it from a different angle.

I am not saying it has to be one way or another - but this is, after all, the feedback forum :) I and others saw more positives then negatives to the mass posting so I thought I would bring it to attention.

I agree and hope that other people are trying to make a positive difference and welcome our n ewer members to keep SB growing - I just personally felt there was a better way to do it then post pages at a time. If people are busy and actually diving :p I just encourage them to only respond to recent posts and not go 4 pages into the forum.

Now it's time to lead by example!
but this is, after all, the feedback forum
That it is, and I am still unclear as to what you would have us do here? Are you suggesting a new rule or that we enforce an existing one? If so, what rule(s) would that be?

You're missing the point. I don't think anyone is saying these posts violate the TOS, or it's bad for people to be friendly - but that the volume of pretty much duplicate posts causes a practical problem in making regular use of the "New Posts" feature. (Which is the way I, and I suspect many people, read the board.) The functionality of the thing is completely aside from opinions one way or another on peoples motivations or usefulness of many of the posts.

I don't know how hard it would be to do, but if only the first post on a thread in Intro showed up under New Posts it would give people a chance to see new members come in, but not have the New Posts list constantly flooded with posts unlikely to be of interest to anyone but the new user. As it is the choice is to get buried, or completely ignore Intros. If only the first post appeared, I wouldn't ignore Intros, and I might greet someone once in awhile (probably only ones where I had something original to say or could answer a question.)

It has nothing to do with boosting their post counts - I coudl care less if that is what they want to do.
Yet you keep posting this, "it has nothing to do with post counts, I don't care, blah, blah, blah." Tell us what is really bothering you. Many moderators and even Pete himself has tried to address your concern, but there doesn't seem to be anything that is going to make you happy, that anyone but yourself can do.
It has to do with pushing all the new posts to page 4 and week old posts are now at the top.
Maybe you should go and bring all old posts that you feel should be on page one, or you could start your own thread... Willie's Picks. There you could link all posts you feel should belong on page one. Could you maybe do that for us, as an attempt on your part to make this a more NitroWill user friendly board...please?
Guests who already received a welcome a week ago get pushed to the top and new people who do monitor their posts are now buried deep and noone else will likely respond.
You have the power Will, keep these "ignored" posts alive, you can do it, we have faith in you lad.
There is NO need to go in and post the same message in pages and pages of threads - there just isn't - it messes up all the active posts and completely floods the new posts page.
Agreed, anyone doing this please, right now, make it part of your New Year's Resolution to stop this :rofl3:. We must make this board more NitroWill friendly...do it for the children. :blinking:

I have pm'd a couple of them only to get a nasty message back.
What did you expect
I actively read and welcome new members and so do many others - it is just a select view (few)that decide to come in once every so often and mass post several pages of new threads.
Do you mean mass reply to threads as opposed to starting new threads  again??
It isn't about having it MY way - there just is no positives to posting pages at a time while there are plenty of negatives to it.
It isn't??? Then why are you pushing this issue??? If you didn't want it your way you would have dropped this by now and let this thread go to page 100+, where it belongs. (IMHO) But hey Will, have a Very Happy New Year!!!:crafty:

I'm not even going to respond to you david - grow up.

Damselfish said it nicely. I never once said anything violated the TOS. I said it had more negatives then positives and that I suggested that something might need to change. A lot of the people that have responded to this thread haven't even really read the post or understood the above. What is the point in leaving feedback if even staff criticizes and is negative? If anything, they should be the role leaders and not follow other peoples poor examples.

You did, with a negative response at that.

Take your own advice. :shakehead:

Telling someone to grow up is not negative. It's constructive criticism

Nitro, one thing you will learn when you grow up, that being all grown up, just means you are old. :D

You're missing the point.
DF, we certainly get the point and thanks for giving us something to work with. Unfortunately, the solution you have suggested is not possible with our current software. Probably the BEST way to do this is to exclude this forum from your new post line up. Then feel free just to drop into the Intro forum for a look see! I surely hope that helps.
