I still see it, but it still says 10 days +.

Now it's back. Last night they were gone. It's counting down correctly on my computer. I'm not sure why it doesn't look right on yours, have you checked to see if your computers clock/calendar is set correctly? I don't know if it makes a difference.

My wife and I are Flying from Timmins, ON Canada (2000 miles) to Cozumel on
May 3-17.

Looking to trade in my snowshovel for a sandshovel!

Current Temp here is -1C

Brand new to the site...

We are both scuba newbies staying at the Occidental Grand and looking to open water certify...

Will have Canadian flags on my shoes and hat :D

CdnJoe :fish:

Um, let me get this straight. You are leavingfor Cozumel in 4 days and haven't done anything about SCUBA certification, and you want to do the whole thing down there? I would have counseled you to handle this very differently. Does Dive Palancar (re your other post) even have a SCUBA school? Have you set up cert classes?

Assuming that you can get into a cert class somewhere, you are going to have to spend a significant portion of your vacation sitting in a classroom. Waiting until now to even ask about how to get certified was not a good plan, IMO.

Your best bet would be to start emailing Coz dive ops NOW to find someone who can do the classroom part of your training and get you enrolled. Waiting until you get down there to try to find a cert class to get into would be (yet another) bad plan. It's a good thing you will be there for two weeks.

Hi Gordon, thanks for you comments,

We have watched the open water video course and are working through the diver manual...hope to have it completed before I arive.

I didn't realize that I would need to pre-book a class becuase of the vast number of shops that offer the certification.

Dive Palancar does offer the open water, from what I have been reading on most diveshop websites 4-5 days to certify...

One of the reasons I booked a 2 week vacation so I would have time to achieve this

I think Gordon's biggest concern for you was that you don't want to be sitting in the classroom doing the book work while you are on vacation. Glad to hear you are getting that out of the way.

I'm sure Dive Palancar will be able to take care of you but get on their website and let them know what you want so they can get you scheduled. They are a good but somewhat conservative op that does 4 single tank dives a day so you will be able to do 2 shallow dive a day if you would rather. The only possible problem I see is one of their instructors, Jackie, is awfully cute. I'll see you there for a week arriving on the 7th.

Today in COZ at noon, Circle Rainbow was observed.

I've heard that means whale sharks will be cruising the Cozumel walls daily for the next month ... right????
