Hey Thanks Rich!!

However, I don't think we can take 2 IMAX in 2 days. :D

And since we are going to Bonaire in 3 weeks, we have to go Saturday and see some reef!! :D:D:D:D:D

It ended up being Phil, Kidsdream, Gnats, and Myself. It was a great way to spend Valentines Day.

The movie was fantastic!! One of the highlights was the mating of giant, 3 ft long cuttle fish. The only other names I knew were rock fish, garden eels, sea snakes, sting rays, squid, and great white shark. With the video taken in places like papua new guinea and Australia, there were some very obscure marine life indeed! There was 1 type of school of fish that were individually about an inch long as juviniles. The Adult/Parent fish lives tucked into the reef and doesn't come out so, at night the entire school flows into an opening to get to where the adult is. It was like a river of juvies flowing 'into' the reef. They said there was no conclusive evidence as to how the adult feeds but, they speculate that either the juviniles provide a slime like substance of some sort or the adults slowly pick off their children every night. :)

The special effects were top notch and I jumped in my seat quite a few times while Phil and Natalie had their hands out trying to touch everything. Jeff was sitting farthest so....Natalie? Was he reaching out too??

Afterwards, we headed out to Pizzapopolis for some Chicago style pizza!
Good food and lovely dive stories!

Now we are really excited about OWU!!

Phil wanted to keep the glasses. He thought they made him look booshank.

Somebody really loves reefs......

The movie was another great Howard Hall production Howard Hall Productions - High Definition Video Stock Library, underwater high definition video, stock video images, high definition underwater photography and videography, underwater photos and video clips, dive underwater photography books, ocean images. I would love the opportunity see some Leafy Sea Dragons in person (an maybe catch an image or two).

No comment about my reaching out - gotta hold something back. I wish I could make the trip to Chicago with the group, but I have started my personal dive countdown - less than 3 weeks and I will be wet again.

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave

We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

Okay, the silly song at the end has been playing in my head over and over and over and over.

This was a fabulous evening and a great big thanks to Tracey and Phil for thinking about posting their plans.

The videography was incredible and the species if fish that were chosen to be in the film were great. The Leafy Sea Dragon was an incredible sight to see.

And, yes, I'm guilty. I wanted to pet the Australian seal pups. Too cute!

That's understandable...they were sooooo cute.

What I didn't understand was looking over and seeing Phil making pucker faces when the seal pups were on. I think he was kissing them back. :shakehead:

I think I saw him wipe a tear away.

And, admit it - I saw you flinch when the cuttlefish snatched the little fishy for din-din!
