No basements here in Florida!
Being from up north, I did not know this. Looks like the garage for Hockey.
I moved to the FLL area 30 years ago and never looked back. The only place in the continental US where you can walk off the beach and swim to a coral reef is between about Hollywood and Pompano Beach, with FLL being in the center. I specifically chose Dania Beach because I can own a single family home moments from the beach for much less housing cost than other local beach cities. I am moments from: FLL Airport, Port Everglades, the Turnpike, I-95, I-595, and, of course, A-1-A. Not to mention a hop skip and a jump from the world's greatest martini! Broward needs a classy chica like you, so come on down!

What kind of work do you do? Sometimes, that can make a big difference on the "where". For instance, the specialty I'm in is limited where I live, but I could find a job in Tampa in a heartbeat, if I wanted to move on in my career.
Depending on your answer (obviously, I don't know everything about every profession), I might be able to give more input.
Obviously, each of us loves where we live for various reasons; but, to me, sometimes where you can live is often dictated by whether you can make a living there.

You also have a bankrupt state and extremely high taxes. Oh ya.... our water is warm most of the year. From what I hear the water in Cali is too damn cold. Disneyland isn't ***** compared to Disney World, Sea World, Adventure Island, and Busch Gardens. Go sell your crazy some place else, we're all filled up here.
