I'm a Fish!
Ok here’s what I have. I just bought a new uwatec Galileo sol, very nice computer as far as options. But very over priced an a little hard to use.
Now my next question is I have been shown the new mares icon. An holy crap does it seem better!
But is it worth getting rid of my Galileo witch I paid $1,000.00 for or just keeping it a favor of a new color version with the same options?
If anyone has an icon I'd like to here what it's like.

Want the sweetest computer? Skip the Uwatec and get a Uemis Zurich!

Having an originally $2000 paperweight Aladin NitroX because they won't replace batteries, I'll never buy another Uwatec.

Why not chuck the Galileo & get the Icon. When you see a Uemis you can chuck the Icon & get that. When the next bright shiny thing comes out you can chuck ..........

Only 3 gases, air and nitrox only - no trimix, no closed circuit support, no choice of deco algorithm( bulhmann only), no deep stops - what is sweet about it? There are at least few much better comps.
Ok it has a cool display.
Any info on retail price?

Why can't you send it to Uwatec and have them replace the batteries? I thought that was kind of the "deal" with the older Uwatec's. No user replaceable batteries but they factory would do it.

Besides the newer UWATECs let you replace them yourself.

or at least my Aladin Tec 2G does...:D

Speaking with a dealer on the Icon, I understand more about the new version that will be coming out at the 1st of the year. As it will be air integrated with many more options.

As far as just swapping computers out when something new comes around is that it's only your life while diving. I think you should have the best if you dive as much as I do; I like coming home at the end of the day.

I wasn't aware the Galileo did trimix or CCR. The Zurich does do up to 3 Nitrox mixes, and deco planning. Great looking display, and it's a cool looking toy! I also have always liked the multi-diver ability. I was trying to compare apples to apples, so I left the VR3 and X1 out of the game.
BTW, $1600USD. Don't have one yet, but I'm thinking about it. One other item, new company. Started May 2009, so I'm waiting to see how they do.

Nope, ScubaPro bought Uwatec 5-7 years ago, and kept it up for a short while, but they stopped replacing batteries back around 2005/6. Now they offer to let you 'trade up' to another discontinued computer.

If you must have the latest & greatest next bright shinny thing, go for it. It's your money, spend it how you like. However, if you think it will make you any safer than any of the more standard or older models, you are kidding yourself.
