See, that's why i'm excited about diving it below 100', because i'll get to see how much the suit affects my buoyancy. Should be interesting!

I have 5 mil on my core, and i'll be wearing a beanie and some gloves, i should be fine, as long as i don't do more than 3 dives a day there!

No, i don't carry a stage or bailout usually, I just calculate with my SAC rate how much time i'm allowed at the bottom, then subtract 5 minutes. Add in however much i need for the safety stop, and carry a good watch. I've also breathed a tank dry with them before, so i know what it feels like to be getting low on air. Nothing like a little uncertainty to spice things up, eh?

If you find some Dacor J valves you can hook an SPG to them.
I have 2 tanks dedicated to single stage regulators. If not then I suggest J valves, carrying a slung bottle, or a buddy with an octo on a long hose.

Yeah, go easy on the "spice" when pushing it twice as deep as you have taken it before, in cold water, etc.. No need to have to pull a CESA, or worse, be in a future revised edition of "Diver Down". No shame in bringing a pony along just in case, or letting another diver know what's up so they'll be close and aware = less apt to wander off.

Yeah, good points all, and i have already talked to my dive buddy about doing this to make sure he's ok with it. I haven't dove a sling with my double hose, might have to try that out this weekend and see how much lift is required for it....I'd rather not dive a conventional BCD with these, as i am not used to doing that.

I like the idea of a sling for backup, good point guys. And yeah, i definitely want to make sure that I don't end up in a new edition of Diver Down! I have too many places to explore yet!

OH, I just talked to Aaron from Lone Star, the Valhalla trip in February is going to be the weekend of the 20th, contact out Fort Worth shop @ ftw@lonestarscuba.com if you are interested in going.

Travis,

Call me when you get a chance..... What are the latest details? And are you going to be there Sat?

It's still a go for the 23rd, i'm currently playing phone tag with the people @ MFS, but i'll hopefully know more by tomorrow!

OK, Just finished talkign with Mark over @ FSM, here's the update.

23rd is when we're scheduled. They'll be there all weekend starting with Friday morning.

He said that the silo is open for people to sleep in @ night, just be aware the the place echoes a LOT and tends to amplify noise.

He'd like to know a rough schedule of what all everybody is doing divewise, so please let me know your rough dive plans pretty soon. This is mostly so that he can make sure that there aren't any traffic jams with the platform, it can only hold six divers in gear ( I think?) and it would be nice for him to know if the mornings or afternoons will be crowded. It doens't have to be specific times, just a general "Two dives in the morning, one in the afternoon, one at night" or whatever.

The cost is going to be 57 bucks apiece, you guys can send me checks or cash. Please make checks payable to "Travis Ice" and put in the memo blank "Valhalla." Once i get a payment from you, i'll tell Mark your name, where your coming from, and all your info. Here's my address

Travis Ice
P.O. Box 191449
Arlington, Texas
76019

If you are going please PM me for a waiver form and bring it with you to the site! I'll bring a bunch of 'em with me as extras, but it would save time for you guys to fill them out already. Let me know also where you are coming form and i'll ask Mark to give you specific directions to the site. He might have GPS coordinates, i'll check and see.

If you need tanks, gear, or would liek to carpool from DFW, please let me know!

I am REALLY excited about this trip, i can't wait to meet up with you guys and do some fun dives!! Any questions, let me know!

:D

I'm not going to be there but I can contribute the GPS for Valhalla is lat 32.210441, lon -100.050988
It is a little hard to find but there is a dive flag sign at the road. Keep your eyes open for it!
Make sure to ask Mark to tell the story of how he came to purchase an abandoned missile silo! :)
