Are there any groups going to Coz who could use one more? My wife just informed me she just is too busy to go on a trip this April or May. Prefer late april, have to get the cows out to grass before I can leave. Anyway, I am a 58 year old male, AOW, about 100 dives, glad to share a room. Prefer to go with a group instead of just going alone. Jim

I'd just say go on down and see what develops. I'll be with a mixed (divers and fisherpersons) group staying at Blue Angel May 1-11. Our rooms are full but we're a friendly bunch and most of us are around your age.

But just go; Cozumel is an incredibly easy place to make new friends. It's probably been a while since you've had an adventure - go for it!

I agree. That's one of the many nice things about diving. Jump on a dive boat and meet like minded individuals. Even easier when you go to one of the many dive hotels however if not at a dive hotel most of us are in Cozumel for the same reason. My wife is not a diver so I frequently do dive trips to Cozumel and Roatan on my own. I met ggun on my last trip in Nov. Going back on March 20th and and can't wait to meet up with my Cozumel network and expand it further.

I met ggun on my last trip in Nov.
Not to disagree with you in substance, but I've never been to Cozumel in November. January, April, May, June, and July, usually in May, but never in November. Must've been my evil twin. ;^)

There are some nice but budget, inexpensive places in town (less than $50 night) if you need to stay on your own. You can find an op that will pick you up in town or figure out a way to get to caleta. Former is probably preferable, cost-wise. But not sure if budget is a limiting factor.

That's scarey! On Nov. 23rd I was at a get together at Wet Wendy's and I swear this fellow introduced himself as ggunn! It is also possible that I was over served by Chad and did not hear him properly. I wonder who else I did not meet? Deborah? Sal?

'Twasn't I. I've never been to Wet Wendy's, either. I'll be on Coz May 1-11, though, if you're in the neighborhood. Drop by the Blue Angel and I'll buy you a beer.

If you are are as nice as the other ggunn I met I would be happy to. Back March 20th and again at the end of May but sounds that we are there frequently enough that it may happen sometime. There was a fellow Canadian from Calgary teaching at the Blue Angel who went by the name of Pancho. If he is still there say hello however I probably did not meet him there either.
Go Canada Go!

For what it's worth-many of my very best vacations-including to Coz-were when I went alone. There is no shortage of dive buddies, and definitely no shortage of fun and games to be had by the solo traveler to Cozumel.

Well, the guys nickname might have been "gun" and he might have had a stutter.
