Nah, them old things will kill you. :)
It's gonna get these guys.....I'm in the middle. This was taken on Bonaire last week. The diver on the left is ScottyD of SB, doing his first ever DH reg dive. There is a fairly large and growing group of us restoring and diving the old regs. Properly rebuild they are as safe and reliable as any modern reg, thanks to Bryan @ VDH and others who have stepped up and reproduced parts for the regs. At this time, your best option is either a US Diver reg- Royal Aquamaster (RAM), DA Aquamaster (DAAM) or Mistral or any of the Voit counterparts. Other DH regs like Dacors and Healthways regs are hard to find parts for and impossible to find new reproduction parts for. If you are interested in seeing some of the old regs and diving them, there is a vintage dive event coming up at Protage Quarry in Ohio in August. A lot of DH divers will be there, I am hoping to make it myself. The old regs are a lot of fun to dive and quite a conversation piece. They do dive differently and you really should find someone who is willing to mentor you along if you decide to try a DH reg. They are different beast and require a little different technique to dive properly.

This is true for most Dacors, however, I have one that is New Old Stock....stored for years and never used..never seen water....it is like new because it is ....

Look down the list of posts under "Dacor C3N, never seen water......"

and it is for sale.

i have one my mom used way back in the day and i just think it would be really cool to rebuild it and dive with it.

My diving interests range from restoring (and diving) with vintage equipment to that of cave diving with modern gear. With that said, my favorite activity is diving with Voit double hose regulators. When I began diving in 1974, double hose regs were becoming less common with divers, but I had a special fondness for their design features even then.

Here are a few photographs taken from Portage Quarry's Legends of Diving 2009 Event. If you can make this year's event from August 13-15, you will be certain to have a great time.
