did not have time to read complete review - packing for flight to Saudi -
was going to buy a S90 tomorrow on my way out - - is this new model so much better that I should forego the S90 for time being ? ? and wait for S95 housing

The good news is that they appear to have kept the same basic format, lens zoom ratio etc that make the S90 a winner for use with accessory lenses. The bad, I doubt it will be a drop in for current housings, that would be too much to ask for.

In fact, Canon USA lists the new camera and a new housing, the DC-38 vs the DC-35 for the S90 so it appears it is probably not a drop in for existing housings and I guess I better grab a spare S90 while available.

1.5mm skinnier? I'm nearly sure it's impossible but I won't sleep well till someone to tries it to see if it can't be shimmed into an existing case.

After having just been given an S90 I'm glad to see there aren't any major upgrades. The 720p video means nothing to me but perhaps the IS would have been nice.

Current compatibility and price likely still make the S90 the winner in my book.

Hi! Does any one know how long does normaly take FIX to make a housing for new cameras after they are released to the public?

And of course, i JUST bought an S90. SHEESH.

The S90's video function was not designed properly, it would not autofocus... I hope they fixed that.

$299 for the housing is expensive!

It'll probably be a while before the Canon (and Ikelite) housings for the S95 actually start shipping. If you need a P&S with an underwater housing today, the S90 is still a pretty good option.

The WP-DC38 housing from Canon will probably go for around $180 when it shows up online. Ikelite hasn't confirmed support for the S95 yet but when it's announced it'll probably be in the $300 price range. If you don't know why you'd need the Ikelite (which is noticeably thinner than most older Ikelite P&S housings), then the Canon will probably work just fine for you. ;-)
