I still use a Tekna mask and Farallon (Tekna's predecessor) fins and snorkel.

I would like to have another Tekna mask. These must be hard to find now. My brother gave me his a few years ago, but it was not stored under the best conditions, and the skirt hardened up.

Hundreds of new designs have come out since the Tekna, none really any better.

I've dove mine almost daily since Ralph gave it to me ... must be close to 25 years ago now. Doesn't appear worn at all.

Ah yes.
Johnson. Once they polished our floors, then they raised the bar and like Aqualung, stepped up to polishing knobs.

It is very safety conscious to only be able to change your tyres at the dealership, every year or 1000 miles.

I hate to say this because I'm a mac fan, but maybe PADI sort of fits the bill. After all, both companies did dumb-down their product to attract a much wider population segment to the activity, or if you want to put it in a more positive spin, made it possible and fun for a wide range of people to get involved. It's just that Apple got walloped by the windows OS.

Atomic Regulators for their performance and exotic materials. And their new OLED-based Cobalt computer.

I concur. Somehow, a much smaller company than Scubapro can figure how to design and manufacture a regulator that only requires service every two years...

Yes. My brother's was stored (I believe) in an attic. I ended up discarding it. It did the same damage to the mouthpiece of his regulator. His rocket fins held up fine.

This may be a similar item:

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

This very well may send Thal into cardiac arrest.

That's a Tekna mask, but so is this:

Halcyon and Atomic, no question.
Over-priced, always pushing new products that you "need", have a fanatical following, but produce top quality innovative gear

How can jet fins be the apple of the scuba world? They haven't changed the damn things in 60 years...

Aqualung and Scubapro come in a close second to the above mentioned, but they're a bit more reasonably priced, and aren't on the "cutting edge" of a lot of products.

DiveRite doesn't remind me of Apple, mainly because there is so cult following, and it's not insanely overpriced for what it is, but for solid reliable gear that you can count on, it goes to them

Dumb-down?!? How exactly did Apple dumb-down their product? Making something simple and intuitive is genius IMO. Semantics I suppose.

Anyway, I think diving and its gear isn’t so complicated that someone needs to dumb it down.
