I just don't log dives
I am always looking for a better way of doing things.............
I dive with a set of Jetfins. I lace the strap from outside to the inside of the buckle so the leftover is all on the inside of the strap.......
I know alot of people do "spring straps" and I to may go down that road however I would like to hear from other solo divers about there set-ups. I make a fair amont of my grear, lift bag pocket, pony tank bracket and others as well as do all the services on my rig and air compressor & boat.

I am not a fan of spring straps because I can’t determine if they are near to failure visually. I have used electrical tape to secure the bitter-end of the strap since getting my first pair of Jets in 1968 to minimize entanglement risk. A good quality tape like 3M stretched outlasts the strap itself.

thank you guys for the timly replys.....I'm was a bit worried about tape but as pointed out there are Good tapes out there. I was thinking of Zip ties to hold the bitter end (theres a navy man) but thought that it would be just as much a snag as the bitter end (even cut right at the end) this would mean making a small hole in the strap to work and I'm not to keen on that.......

I taped the ends with Gorilla Tape and then did a test dive on this set-up......the set works fine, so we will use tape till I make a set of springs. Thanks again for the tips!

I've been using 3/8" bungee for several years now and love it. It's even easier to don/doff fins than with my spring straps and the bungee lasts for a few hundred dives. You can easily see when they begin to wear. My fiancee uses cable ties instead of knots in hers and it works fine. I will try that the next time I replace mine.

During the last 5 years I have managed to find 10 individual Aqua Lung rocket fins- all of them were with regular straps and duct tape approach- and not even a single one with springs... So, I am ambiguous on the subject- don't mind others using regular straps- keep'in the "supply line" but I prefer to use springs and not losing my fins- especially if solo'in :D

Timely thread this. I was about to ask the question re spring straps. Specifically if its a case of there is only one or is one brand spring strap king and others rubbish
