I believe it was 8 weeks before the Invasion. Airfare is crazy right now, there are multiple threads about this on the board. Patience is the key, keep watching.

IN CASE ANYONE MISS MY PREVIOUS POST ON THIS ISSUE.

While I don't have a crystal ball and world event can change this. Roxanne and I have been on many trips and I have found the best rates for fights are typically 10-6 weeks before arrival and the best time to search for flights is Tuesday & Wednesday midday. Also clear your cookies before searching.

Also I like using KAYAK & the Matrix to search and watching rates over time to see rates fall and rise during the weeks to find a baseline price. I will say if you see a VERY LOW rate don't wait it could be a Airline glitch but the price is valid.

If anyone has any other tips please share. :d

This year I do not feel as confident as you do that this is going to happen. Fuel cost is on the upswing, continuing consoladation etc. That being said. I sure hope you are correct.

If anyone is flying out of Houston a very good weekend rate would be anything near $400 including taxes/fees. If you have some flexibilty leaving during the week or from alternate airports can lower your cost.

We pulled the trigger and booked our flights tonight. Cindy's reward points got her a ticket for $79. Mine was $671. Balance of the Invasion due in May. Then it's pocket change and a good time awaiting us. :D

$671 from Georgia - these airline fee structures are nuts! My round trip flight from Washington state thru Houston was not quite $610 including all taxes and fees. Those of you in the Southeast should get far better rates than I had to pay but again, airline fee structures can be so bizarre. Good thing that Cindy had the points for such a discount so that the average price for each of you is reasonable.

Yeah, it's bizarre. I was wanting to wait to see if the fares came down but was afraid the seats available for reward points / frequent flyer would be gone and then we'd have to pay full fare for both. :(

That's what I did as well. I didn't really want to fly from Austin to Atlanta then down to Cozumel, but it's only an extra hour or so overall. We'll arrive at 12:27pm rather than 11:40 or something...not that big of a deal really.

Anyone else flying in a day early (29th) through Atlanta?
