MADiveGirl,

Congratulations, I remember getting home and doing the same thing when I crossed a SB milestone. You picked a great year to dive in, the conditions are exceptional. Give us a shout if you venture north where more fun awaits.

Pete

Somewhere in 2014 or 15 I will tick over past #500. After that I will probably "slow down" some due to age. I am amazed that some on SB are over 5,000 dives (understandable if an instructor or DM). What do these people do, dive 2 out of every 3 days for 20-30 years? Do they not have jobs? I average a little more than one per week and think that's a lot. Besides, most of my diving is local or around NY. To be honest, it's not so exciting for me that more than once a week is warranted anyway.

Congratz! I was able to turn 25 in warm water after doing all my previous salt water dives in Rockport or Gloucester. There's an outside chance I'll hit 50 at the Cenotes in October.

Lots of NE'ers here!!!!! I will always love Cathedral - it was my first NE ocean dive, believe it or not. My dive buddy is new to the area, so we just looked at the Cape Ann map of dive sites, initially set eyes on Back Beach but passed because it was packed with students, then said, what the heck, Cathedral looks great! Little did we know everyone thinks that's a tough one due to the rock climbing to get there..... I think it's great to get you nice and warmed up before donning the dry suit. :)

Thanks all for the encouragement! I try to dive every weekend when possible, and feel very lucky to be so close to such great shore diving - 45 minute drive and I'm at at dozen great sites to choose from. Love it.

Congrats! I remember how excited I was when I first got to change my dive count status... and the second time too... and I'm still excited about being able to change it again probably Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Milestones are always fun... perhaps you should make a dive in celebration?
