What system do you use rjack?
.
I tried a Razor here locally in the PNW with (steel) hp100s and again in FL with lp85s. They hang low something fierce and if you look at the way the neck bungies are done its clear that the tanks can never be up higher than the bottom of the chest Drings. Soooo... I borrowed an Edd Sorenson (Cave Adventures in Marianna) modified Hollis SMS 100. It fit great and got the tanks onto my actual sides. So I bought one.
Thats interesting, I havent read anything like that about the Razor so thank you for bringing that into a point of view. I have taken a look at the Hollis and even from the start it didnt lookt that appealing to me so I never took a second look at it.
What is your instructor diving and is he or she a cave diver? Most of the people I know diving SM are cave divers and they are all using Nomads, the sms100 Hollis, or the JT. Only 1 is using a Razor and he is not using it in FL, only in MX with AL80s.

No instuctor yet, I want to finnish upgrading my regs first. I dont see the point in paying for a class if I dont have the majority of the gear (Why train in someones elses gear that may be different from what I get, when I can learn and practice in my own). But as far I know there is only one place down here close to Naples that even has the sidemount course so my options are limited there.
i don't use any of those! lol
You might want to consider traveling up to High Springs and getting a SM class from one of the guys up there. I know some real good ones I can recommend to you.
LOL apart for FB I don't think we know each otheri don't use any of those! lol.
Agree on traveling up state aways for instruction. You might want to consider traveling up to High Springs and getting a SM class from one of the guys up there. I know some real good ones I can recommend to you.
Find an instructor doing the dives you are interested in, get along with, and respect. If you buy all the gear first esp the BC you will be limited on instructors. Some will just roll their eyes at what they don't like and I wouldn't be surprised to find many of them giving you a lot of grief for diving something they don't like. And an edit: nobody's diving any rig "stock". My Razor has had a number of extraneous bits taken off (leaving a very expensive piece of webbing and some Drings). I still use the Razor for some sump dives. The SMS100 has been heavily modified too, even the straps have been cut and resewn. No instuctor yet, I want to finnish upgrading my regs first.
