Christi, I understand where you are coming from in reporting what you DWM employee pal told you but not every diver puts their gear into a bag. What happens to a divers gear thst is left for DWM staff to rinse and store but isn't in a bag?

I can't answer that, it was not part of my discussion with him - but as he explained to me - it's not rinsed for you, they simply allow it to be kept there.

Well, hmmm, as you may recall I'm fine with rinsing my own gear. I just want a place to hang and store it at the dive op.

I am contradicting their website? Read what I wrote - it came directly from a high level, long term employee that is a friend of mine - I asked if they stored gear because we were sharing a customer one week and I needed to find out if I should drop their gear off or have the customer take it with him at the end of his week with us - that was the answer I got. So I guess that employee is the one contradicting their website.

Take it easy? I didn't say anything "wrong" or nasty. I was answering the question as was given to me from the horses mouth, without hesitation, without secret - just "well, we do but we don't rinse it or hang it - they can leave it at the shop if they don't want to take it back" - same thing they would tell a customer if asked. And said they would have a great time with them if that's what they were looking for!

And this was confirmed by someone else that is a happy loyal customer :D

Well, their website says one thing. You say no rinse and sit on the floor and a customer of DWM says they rinse it, if badly:

Christi is right, they don't take your gear out of the bag. They just dunk the whole bag in the rinse tank and then store on floor of dive shop. .

I was just suggesting that I don't know that it is a good idea for the owner of one OP to go down that road with another op. Regardless of whether the you, the website or the customer is correct, I would suggest this isn't cricket. Let someone else do it, not you. But hey what do I know. Maybe you would be thrilled with another op coming here and repeating something your employees told them.

Then you'd have to go to the dive shop with the boat. Perhaps you could discuss this with the shop, and all you ever know is what they tell you anyway. I just send my BC, fins, and pony - keep and rinse the rest myself.

Point received - thank you. I really meant no harm or ill intent - just for the record, this person I am repeating is in management, not a DM or captain on the boat.

Sorry, no I don't recall the preferences of every scuba board member :) If you have dove with me I would know - but I don't necessarily know board names to real names either :)

Blue Angel has lockers at the dive shop, you need to bring your own lock.

I certainly know that you didn't mean anything by it. It just could be read in a negative light.

We have dove with several dive ops,in Cozumel and elsewhere. I do not want to do any wall dives yet. I email DWM and inform them of that, I also request Roberto for our entire dive package( my requests' has always been honored),Chris is an air hog and they supply him with 100cf tanks at no additional cost. As for the gear they provide ,It looks to be in good shape, They also have extra gear in case you have a problem with your personal gear. In closing I would say they do an excellent job and we continue to be repeat customers. I also like being on the reefs early and most times before anybody else.

I could care less if my gear gets rinsed as long as it's ready for me on the boat the next day. After all, when I dive on multi-day local (SoCal) boats or on liveaboards, the gear never gets rinsed until my last day of diving. Why should day boat diving be any different?

At some risk I must offer this opinion. Most of this thread is nothing more than a crock of ****. Christi is the only one who attempted to address the facts, yet was unfairly blamed for being "anti competitive. The fact is that Cozumel is blessed with a WIDE variety of services and in a general sense you get what you pay for.I happen to offer the most expensive there is (when defined as a two tank dive) and Dive with Martin may be the lowest, with Christi in between. But the indisputable fact is that we all offer what some divers want, be it extraordinary service, friendship, or the lowest price. Each diver can make his value choice, and in my mind that is the way it should be. Not so in many dive resorts, so those who choose Cozumel have a wonderful, if confusing choice.
