I don't have a "control-a" option on my iPad, or a "delete" key.

Control-A in the reply window then hit the Delete key.
Use Upload a File. Or even easier, drag and drop the image from your computer onto a reply window.
Control-A? Now that's intuitive. Who's the audience for this board?

If you're going to be relying on Control keys to perform basic functions, then I'd recommend a User Guide ...

Well, if you're going to be snarky about it, it's a standard keyboard command since around 1984 or so..and used on every keyboard since then afaik. Certainly since a little thing called Windows was developed since that's probably when I started using it - on Windows 2.0.

SO/IEC 9995 Information technology — Keyboard layouts for text and office systems is an ISO standard series defining layout principles for computer keyboards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO/IEC_9995

I've spent the past 40 years working with a keyboard ... since the days when the standard one was attached to a Selectric. Never once used "Control-A" for anything. I'd bet if you did a survey of ScubaBoard users, the vast majority would've never heard of a shortcut.

And, BTW - I just tried using it for exactly the purpose you suggested. Didn't work ...

Dates on original posts on main page is too dim. Not readable.

That's funny, it works for me. I just followed the exact process typing, using Ctrl-A and then having to retype this twice since it did.

You can also drag your mouse over all the text, highlight it, then hit the delete key for the same effect. Hovering in the text and double-clicking the mouse (single click on a Mac?) also has the same result.

You have to be in an editable window after the first time though. Otherwise it just works to highlight the text to be cut/paste into a new reply window instead. Or if you highlight a block of previously typed text - you'll notice that a small Quote/Reply Icon now enables - hitting either one of those moves just what you selected into a new reply window also.

... whereas in the previous version of this forum, you only had to click the Cancel button. But why do something with one intuitive click when you can do the same thing with multiple, non-intuitive actions?

When I get to the bottom of a thread and I want to return to the beginning post, is there a key I can hit to return me to the first post? On some boards HOME key works or CTRL Home works. Is there a key for this forum?

I've tried all of this ... and yes, it does delete the thread. But unless you post something (i.e. hit the "Post Reply" button), the deleted text just shows up at the bottom of the thread next time I open it ... still waiting for me to post.

This has occurred multiple times ... it happens when I post a reply and the board just freezes up, like it didn't do anything, forcing me to reload the page. It happens on both of my home computers (desktop and laptop) and my work computer ... so it ain't the computer that's causing it.

Seriously ... posting to ScubaBoard has become a frustrating experience since the new software went in. Maybe, since I seem to be the only one having these problems, it has something to do with my account settings. I don't really know. I just know it's unpleasant to have to deal with it.
