Yeah not what anyone thought.

I don't have access to posting on CDF, can someone who does make a link?

**never mind, posted on CDF***

So how does one get a copy of a supposedly confidential report to an agency, so they can post it everywhere to validate the narrative they've had all along? I'm skeptical.

I pray we never start another thread with the word ANOTHER, because every time this gets a bump in New Posts I get a stressed response and think think, "What, ANOTHER diver??!!?? Not realizing nope, same accident.

Would it help if all divers wore a symbol or tag that actually says, " SOLO" or "BUDDY" so if they are separated, in-trouble-divers, other people might have a clue they need help? Also, if they try to get out of water without their buddy, someone on the boat can ask about missing diver?

Some conversation on the FB Sidemount page seems to give it credence.

For those without cave diving training following the thread:

The issue with pulling the lines is that they are your lifeline to the surface. One of the five golden rules of cave diving is to always have a continous line to open water. It is taught in basic cave and stressed throughout training and brought up often in conversation that if you have a separation all lines are to be left in the cave so that everyone can find their way back out. You can pull lines on another dive or ask other divers to retrieve them for you. Again, you don't remove them unless everyone is accounted for. If it's true they were pulled it's a big deal and in the simplest terms a huge no-no.

So, Alessandro Morato made a big bo bo then.

This whole thing is baffling to me, and I am going to sit back and watch for more developments. Here are the parts that re not adding up for me.

1. Like Tursiops, I wonder how they got access to the incident report. If I were he, I would certainly not release it, and if someone in IANTD released it, it would make me seriously consider leaving that organization if I were a member. I read through the FaceBook page and don't see any explanation.
2. There is still the supposed early report that the exiting team saw her bringing in a spool to be considered. She seemed fine and unconcerned. that makes no sense.
3. It is definitely wrong for him to pull line with someone in the cave, but unless I seriously misunderstood what lines were in and then pulled, someone on that route should still have been able to get out without them.
4. I don't see how he could have lost sight of her, especially since his supposed job for the dive was to get video of her diving. There will be no real loss of visibility because of silt. Even if you crash into the bottom in the worst place you will only raise a fine white cloud that anyone can see through, and it will settle quickly. To lose sight of someone on that route, you have to be very seriously distracted for a good amount of time.
