Just curious why you would bother to cut those out if the rail brace fits down in between them.
It was really snug and the part that was hitting them is the welded on cross brace for the rails. Just figure I'd rather have a clean removal than an abraded/shredded section.

Oh yeah I see that.
What about the little 2.5" center bar going accross the tank bracket, I wonder if it will step on those cushions on each side?
It is very snug between them. At some point the ends of that center bar would probably abrade/shred the cushions.

If you end up really liking the plate and that wing, and never have plans to change out the wing, then who cares? Run the wing till it dies.

But, I also ordered this one as another option to try:

McMaster-Carr

Well, I ordered yesterday, with Economy shipping, and my order came today. And the above strap is the winner. I am now ecstatic at how this rig has turned out.

If it truly is the Rolex of backplates (and I'd love a Rolex, preferably a classic) then:

1-It will only perform like an average backplate, substantially less than many
2-It will be pretty, not as pretty as some, but also will be made with obsolete technology
3-It will require expensive annual service from an authorized dealer, which will cost more than purchasing a new above-average backplate
4-It will be widely counterfeited and sold for $10 in Chinatown
5-Bad people will sneak up on you and threaten to take it off with a machete if you don't hand it over NOW. Especially if you get the 24K gold model set with small diamonds.

Did I miss anything there?

I just placed an order for a second Freedom Plate for my daughter, along with a second Hog wing. Now I have to get different color harness so we don’t grab each other’s stuff. I get first dibs on red!

I would think the right side port plug MUST have a hole into the bladder on that side, too.

Yep, definitely attached to the bladder. Wondering if it warrants a follow up with Leisurepro regarding the difference, models new vs old, etc.

It looks good Stuart. I'm planning on doing the same. I found a new, black, Hog 23 wing for $169, so I pulled the trigger and am going to go with the tank strap and try a pair of the DGX Scubapro quick release cam bands. My harness hardware is on the way, so I hope to have it all set up by this weekend. I did consider the VDH wing, but since I dive hp 100's and may add a bit of weight on cam band pockets in the winter with thicker protection, as well as cost differential, I went with the Hog and the extra 5lbs of lift. I can't wait to get it together and get it in the water!
