So, if anyone were to think the dive shop owners were just a bunch of entitled whiners who want everything for free and aren't willing to work with pier owners cooperatively, here is refutation of that. Perhaps eventually places such as Secrets will be able to see the interconnected and interdependent nature of Cozumel businesses and be less obstructive.

Plus, it truly makes me happy to learn that the landowner seems to be thinking ecologically and being mindful of long-term benefits to the island and not merely focusing on maximizing immediate profit. I'd pay 100 pesos extra to support that without a second thought.

Wouldn't "muertos" translate to "moorings" in this instance?

Yes! Moorings was the word I was looking for! That’s what happens when you speak another language for so long I often forget the English words haha

Someone above said something about not progressing too fast - this will not be commercialization - this will be an ecologically friendly way to
Preserve this area if anything - an area strictly for divers to relax on a QUIET beach during their SI

Nobody in my family seems to recognize any English word for "tope" any longer...

My mom told someone to watch out for the topes in a parking lot with vicious speed bumps and struggled for a bit to find a word her friend would recognize, and my mom would ordinarily strike you as completely monolingual.

The translation is not as complicated as it seems...

the definition of deadman

In a past life, I worked construction. We would call an anchor point a deadman.

Dave and Christi, please make sure you kidnap the raccoons, peacock, birds kind of like mockingbirds, and the cudamundis (or what ever they are called) when you make the move. Also, I don't know how often it happens, but my wife got sick last October after the first dive (happens a lot on her first dive of a vacation) and she was able to take a cab back to CM. It was a nice option to have instead of waiting it out on a boat. I assume Palancar Beach Club would still allow that? Something to think about if road access is not available.

See y'all in October!! I'm being kidnapped to Belize for my April Bday trip.

It is not much of a hike from that pier and Palancar Beach resort. In fact that is what I did, and had Memo go back through the muck to get my Jeep

IDK why the dive ops just don't go back to doing the SIs like they did in the 90s - floating... The ops collectively can control supply and demand of the pier access and fees. Create zero demand and the costs not only would go away, but so would future tourist revenue for the land owner who would eventually offer up free parking to get the tourist dollars back

Bobbing around on a panga for an hour with no bathroom would be something for sure.

And if you put in bathrooms...toilet seats would be nice. I don't want to sound like a spoiled American, and I'm grateful for the Facilities at the Palancar Beach Club, but I never understood why they did not have toilet seats....

!00 pesos a boatload for bathrooms and the chance to talk to the people on the other boats sounds like a bargain to me.

I don't even want to talk to the people on my own boat. LOL!

Where is your sense of adventure? Haha
