I got OW age 51 (am 64). To be honest, I didn't even know there was a specific age to plan dives as if 10' deeper. Most of my dives are extremely shallow (30'), but I have done some deep. I guess that one to 130' meant I was 10' beyond "old folks" NDL?

Almost 58. I stick to warm water and calm seas. (I am fearful of breaking my face or another part of my body on a ladder while trying to get out of 4+ foot seas.) I hand up my gear (though I agree with whoever said that it's not always as easy as it sounds - with current or surges). In general, more cautious so I don't slip or pull a muscle lugging gear. And I always take that full 5 minute safety stop.

I have an attitude of wanting to go out in a 'blaze of glory' rather than flat on my back in a hospital/nursing home bed. However, I'd like to stay in good shape until one of my kids finally makes me a grandma! (the clock is ticking - someone needs to get started!!!)

Hahahahaha!! Don't rely on your kids. I got fixed at the tender age of 24, an only child, my mom cried for days, but my cousins have spawned, so Mom has a wee one to poop in her arms. And barf on her shoulder.

Wow Wookie. How could you have been so sure at the age of 24, not to mention that doctors fight that sort of decision tooth and nail? None of my business I suppose but you did bring it up. LOL

Oh, the Doctor was LDS and refused. I was in the Navy and they were happy not to have to pay to deliver a child. My father told my mother when I was born that she would raise me through the smelly baby years and he would take over when I was old enough to be interesting. I never got interesting, but the attitude stuck. Bringing a life into the world is serious business, and should be left neither to chance nor instinct. The last person on earth qualified to raise a child is me. And I’m also the last person who wants to.

Max beat me to the punch! In all seriousness though, regarding children, I've always held a similar attitude as Wookie. I've gotten a lot of strange looks over the years for saying things like that.

I never wanted kids. My first long relationship, he felt the same way and got fixed at 28. People would say “but what if you change your mind?” Neither of us ever changed our minds about that. Nowadays I sometimes laugh out loud when I pass that special ladies aisle in the grocery store... being over 50 has it’s perks!!
