I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet: Hand-held LED Light(s). At least one clipped to your right chest D-ring, with the loose end tucked into a large rubber band.
I love having a light with me, even on bright sunny days in the tropics. There are always little nooks and crannies to look into.
Speaking of rubber bands: Go to a bike shop and get a (used) fat bicycle tire and cut some heavy duty rubber bands from it. Thread those on as you assemble your harness. At least one on each shoulder strap (to secure things dangling from the chest D-rings), and another one on your waist for securing the end of the waist belt (after the buckle.). Just say "no" to danglies.
Also, weight pockets: 2 on either side of my waist belt and 2 on a cam-band.
It's a real PITA when you assemble your rig and find out you left off bands or a D-ring.
