How is it hurting your diving? Diver or Dive business, have you felt the effects of the shutdown? As someone directly effected, I have put diving on a total stand-still for the time being. No clue when things will resume.

There are no dive boats running Dry Tortugas trips, as they can't get a permit.

What gov't. employees deal with diving and dive ops?

NOAA and National Park Service, if you happen to dive in a National Park or a Sanctuary....

I sure hope the TSA is on the job for my April trip. Perhaps I am not getting a huge response to my charter invite because people are taking a wait and see.

From a travel perspective, I just did a quick in and out of Ft. Lauderdale and TSA did not slow anything down.

Who checks the permit? Wouldn’t the lack of anyone to issue one be a reasonable excuse not to have one?

According to that logic if all TSA agents walk off the job because they need to get in line at the food pantrys, we should just be able to walk on the plane without going through a security screening.

Law enforcement rangers are still working (without pay)

Are the coast guards affected or they are paid as they are necessary for security ?
