Well, I kind of like the look of the VDH because it seems slimmer than the HOG. I would make sure the VDH 23# uses a 23# bladder, though, before I were to jump. Other than the bladder issue I have no reservations as to the quality of the HOG wing. I picked mine up when they were going for a remarkably low price.
I also like the way VDH seems to do business. Offering a good product at a fair price directly to the consumer.
The new DGX design looks pretty nice, too, although I never had a lot of use for the pull dump inflator design.

If you make the jump let me know if you want to sell the 23# HOG wing. My youngest daughter has a 32# HOG wing we got for her during the holidays but my wife is expressing interest in switching from a BC to BP/W...our daughter is small enough that she can give the 32# wing to my wife and we can stick the 23# one on my daughter's rig.

The HOG 23 is shorter, but wider (not to my liking). The VDH design follows the OxyCheq shape (which i prefer), and is very "streamlined". If you are diving HP 80's, the shorter the wing, the better.....

I measured my HOG 23# at 21"x 16" x 4.5" inflated. Pretty close to VDH's published dimensions of 22" x 16" x 5". The Argonaut does look slimmer. Maybe VDH is being a little liberal in its measurements.

These are my VDH 35 and HOG 23 side by side.

So put a vdh 18 & hog 23 next to each other. You are showing a 23 and a 35. 12 pounds delta, is almost a whole wing....

I don't think he owns a VDH 18.

Yeah, that's all I have. I thought it was interesting to see how close in size they look, considering the difference in lift capacity. I mean, the 35 is clearly bigger. But, it doesn't really look 50% bigger. Obviously, looks can be deceiving and 1/2 Pi r^2 also plays a role in that.

I think I'm going to do a Blackbeards liveaboard this summer and I think I'm going to buy a VDH 18 just in honor of that trip. I'm looking forward to having a Freedom Contour Plate with the VDH 18. Should be the tiniest rig on the boat.

Also, I do recall when vdh first started selling their wings I enquired about bladder size and if i remember correctly Bryan said each wing had a different bladder. Perhaps he can confirm this or someone can get a direct response from him.
